" THE MARINES HAVE LANDED, AND THE SITUATION IS WELL IN HAND." - Richard H. Davis (1885)

This is the backbone of the Marine Corps.  When most people think of the Marine Corps, this is what comes to mind, because there simply is no better fighting force in the world.  We respond quickly with decisive force, and have never returned from battle without a victory.  Protecting that legacy will require you to act quickly, and think even faster.  Our primary mission is close combat ground war, so this is where the majority of Marines operate.  Your first command will likely consist of a 45-person rifle platoon, but the potential to lead thousands of Marines is very real.  From start to finish, every Marine in your command will look to you for instruction and guidance.  It's a take-charge job with a lot at stake, but that's the essence of leadership in the Corps.
